Bounce your way through Sir’s self discovery in Bounce Sir, now available from Google Play

Released by Nisuboy, Bounce Sir is a new endless “bouncer” that’s been released on to the Android platform. Players will follow the journey of Sir, a little orange ball with a mustache. What players will do is, using a swipe gesture on the screen, trace out a short line that Sir will bounce on top of (a la Doodle Jump), only it’s up to the player to determine its size and angle.

As players seek to see how high they can bounce Sir, they will also need to dodge around the floating Punks, which are red colored versions of Sir, and “their bite force quotient is almost 109“, according to the game’s page, apparently putting it in Honey Badger territory. Players will look to either navigate around the punks, bounce on top of them, or draw a line through them, in order to deal with them.

Bounce Sir Features:

– Hundreds of individually recorded voice clips which Sir uses to provide dynamic situational commentary throughout the game.
– Quirky sense of humor with both known and obscure references to TV shows, movies, and video games, and just totally weird things overall.
– Actual secrets that people can discover if they experiment enough. Mess with Sir on the title screen, try bouncing him sideways, etc.
– Emphasis on soul, charm, and playfulness over monetization-centric design
– Simple, fresh, minimalist design that is lightweight, easy to navigate, and free of excessive stimulation.

There isn’t much for a story at the outset, but in emailing the developer I was told that, while the game does function much like an endless runner in that there’s no end and players are striving to simply see how far they can go, it does have a bit of a philosophical twist. Sir confronts parts of himself that he may not want to, and that the game can parallel one’s journey towards self discovery. This can be reflected in both the Punks, as well as the change in scenery as the game progresses. Sir will even vocalize obscure gaming references, but this can be toggled off if the player so chooses.

Lastly, the game comes in a total of four different modes, with each having their own leaderboard. Bounce Sir is available for free from Google Play, but also includes an in-app purchase for what’s called the “Classy Edition”. In the Classy Edition, ads are removed and players also gain access to what’s known as Ruffian Mode (harder and faster compared to normal), as well as unlocking a secret mode.
