Joycity’s rather popular Monopoly-style multiplayer board game called Game of Dice has received a pretty big update themed around pirates. For those of you not familiar with this game, Game of Dice is essentially a combination of Monopoly gameplay, but mixed with TCG mechanics and RPG elements to round everything out.
Game of Dice can be played either solo, with you going up against two other players, or in a team fight where you team up with another player to duke it out with another team of two. As you go around the board you can buy up properties, use cards in your hands to either boost your turn, or cause problems for your opponents. Your character can level up which increase certain benefits, such as the chance to roll doubles. The same goes for the dice you are using, as there are a variety you can use and level up, each with their own perks.
This pirate update brings with it a new Pirate themed gold dice set, featuring a Monkey in a pirate suit on the dice. This design is in celebration of the Year of the Monkey, which is the newest Chinese Zodiac year for 2016. The main perk with this new dice set is Vacation Spots Toll Increase %, which you can level up as your dice level increases. There is also a new Pirate themed event map which takes place on a Pirate ship. There are a few changes with this map over the original boards that came with this game, such as different toll fees, more Vacation spots, and players receive one of the new Pirate themed cards on the 21st turn.
Of course there is also a new character making their debut in this update named the Pirate Anthony. This new character also comes with a specialized perk revolving around Vacation spots tolls, so teaming this character up with the Pirate dice makes for a great combo, especially on the new Pirate map. Four new Pirate skill cards are also making their debut with this update. Three of them are new event cards: ‘You’re Mine Now’, ‘Open Fire’, and ‘Map of Fortune’. The fourth card is a new Draw/Craft a new skill card called ‘I see GOLD’.
Outside of all the Pirate related content, there are a few general changes to Game of Dice as well with this update. The level cap for players has increased by 5, capping out at level 35 instead of level 30. Players can now also chat with team members or Guild members while in a match. Lastly, there’s a couple of new events for players to partake in. There is the new Lucky Box event in celebration of the Lunar New Year. There is also plenty of Gold and Gems(in-game cash) bonuses when players get the new character ‘Pirate Anthony’ or the new ‘Monkey Dice’. Rounding the events out are new Valentine’s edition hologram skill cards which can be gained by participating in their own event.
