Back in June 2015 we reported on DotEmu who has announced that they would be bringing the second installment into the Ys Chronicles franchise to Android in the near future. Well today is that ‘near future’ as Ys Chronicles II is now available for Android devices on Google Play.
For those of you not familiar with this game or franchise, Ys Chronicles is an Action-RPG that has a pretty long history. Ys itself is a JRPG franchise that was originally released in North America in 1990 under the slightly different name, Ys Book I & II. However, Ys Chronicles was a remake of those games which also featured a bunch of enhancements and came packed together, before being released in the early 2000s for PC, and then for the PSP. This is when the franchise really took off in popularity, even though it was pretty popular before then.
Ys Chronicles II for mobile comes with all of the content that the original version had, including retaining the ‘bump’ system which mean you literally have to run into, or pounce, an enemy in order to initiate combat. However, like most DotEmu releases, this one does have some additions and enhancements done to it. There are two different modes you can play through: Adventure mode (play through the game’s story normally) and Time Attack. Adventure mode also has two different graphical options available, with one being Original and the other labeled as Chronicles.

This game also comes with three different soundtrack styles to choose from and four different difficulty levels. There is also controller support available. Interestingly enough, DotEmu has added in some new weapons, armor, and artifacts to the game which were not in the original.
