We’re back from GDC 2016, here’s what to expect over the next few days

As you are probably aware of, we have been at GDC 2016 all last week, with Jaymes and Ryan holding down the fort here. Well we are back and we have plenty to report on, so this is just a bit of a round-up of what you can expect to find over the next few days here on DroidGamers. (Hint: There’s a lot)

We’ve been working on a couple of big projects over the last 12 months, and this week looks like it’ll be their launch times, pending any sudden issues of course. We’ve been beta testing a new design for our site with a ton of new features, a lot of which are interactive. As you probably know, we have always tried to be as community driven as possible, and a lot of these new features are coming from that, so our readers can be more a part of DroidGamers. Of course we will go over everything once the new design launches in a separate post.

Another feature we have been working on and are now in the middle of closed beta testing is something we are calling DroidGamers TV, or DroidTV/DTV for short. This is essentially our own cable TV channel online. While streaming content, live or recorded, on the internet is nothing new, this new platform allows us to pull our content from YouTube, YouTube Gaming, Twitch, and a number of other sources, and having it play all in one location. This will run 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We will have live shows, recorded gameplay and content, live event coverage, mobile eSports coverage, and so on. And since this runs like a cable channel, everything is on a schedule, so you can always know when your favorite show is coming on. There is a lot more features than mentioned here, this is just the general idea behind DroidTV.

If you’re interested in beta testing DroidTV over the next couple of days, you can apply to our closed beta community for it here. Once approved, there will be instructions, more details, and pretty much everything else you would need to know. If you’re a streamer (developers or not), the application to have your stream syndicated on DroidTV will go live later this week.

The GDCPlay Meeting Lounge just before closing on Friday

As for the immediate next day or two, we will be posting all of our hands-on goodness from GDC as well as the exclusive information we have about a few games coming to Android. As you may have guessed, this year’s GDC was heavily focused on Virtual Reality, so we have some interesting news regarding that as well. We will also be catching up on news we may have not managed to post last week as initially planned. It was a very busy GDC, but a good one nonetheless.

We also have a couple of giveaways happening this week as a thank you to our wonderful readers for your patience with last week’s slow posting out there in Android gaming land. Stay tuned for those details coming shortly.
