Bring a poisoned city back to life using a robotic sphere in Aurora: Quarantine, now available from Google Play

Released by ForthWardStudios, Aurora: Quarantine is a new entrant into the balance ball genre. Set in the year 2098, the world has succumbed to pollution and the misuse of resources. In response to this, ecological sanctuary cities are created, but only the super wealthy can afford to live there and thus escape the hardship that everyone else is forced to endure.

These cities are guarded by a security firm known as The S.I.G.H.T, who have built rules for those on the inside, and walls for those on the outside. Silverpolis is one of these sanctuary cities where a rebellion has formed, organized under the name The Association, who have used ‘weaponized pollution’ and killed everyone inside the city, leaving it completely uninhabitable for any life form.

The S.I.G.H.T. has developed robots to enter into the toxic stew, and as a pilot of one of these robots, this is where players enter the story. You will be tasked with going into Silverpolis and to detox the city to allow it to return to life. Unfortunately for you though, all of the city’s security measures were activated, so there are numerous traps and other hazards that must be avoided. Players will get to customize their robotic sphere along the way, in the hopes of keeping up with the automated security systems.

The game uses a simple swiping mechanic for its control scheme, though the developer assured me that they are “working on adding support for hardware controllers very soon”. Aurora: Quarantine is available from Google Play for the initial sale price of a flat $1.47, which is 30% off of what will be the normal price on this launch sale ends.
