DroidGamers first Minecraft Realms server is now live.

Yesterday the alpha test version of Minecraft Realms for Minecraft: Pocket Edition launched and of course we have to get a server for our readers to come play on, build stuff, and hang out on. There are a couple of limitations to Minecraft Realms, mainly that there’s no modding available just yet and there is a limit of 10 users who can be playing at any given time. You can, however, have up to 200 invited users per server. This is why we are saying our ‘first’ server, as we will probably end up needing more in order to accommodate everyone.

We were one of the early adopters of PocketMine, the software you can use for running your own Minecraft: Pocket Edition server, but we took that down to wait for a more solid version of it with modding etc etc. Now that it exists, we were going to put it back up but then Mojang went and released this instead. One thing we would love to see are a couple o options for more players to be able to play at the same time, like 25 and 50. Right now 10 is pretty small, and that’s the limit for Realms regardless of platform.

Our freshly made DroidGamers community server

Whatever the case may be, our first server is a Survival one. So you can expect to find all the options you normally would find in a Survival server. In order to get onto the server, you do need an Xbox Live account, which are free, even if you don’t have an Xbox. After that, you just need to let us know what your username is in the comments and we will send an invitation to join our Survival server. If all goes well, we will add a creative one in the immediate future if people want one.
