Deep Silver and FISHLABS Entertainment bring Warp Shift to Android

Deep Silver and FISHLABS  have a lot going on these days. As Android gamers await the latest in the Galaxy on Fire game, they have just released Warp Shift. They worked with ISBIT games to bring this amazing puzzle game to Android. The game was released a month or so ago on iOS. Now, Android gamers have an opportunity to check out this beautiful and challenging puzzle game, starring its young heroine Pi. It is a premium-priced title that is available for $2.99 and it is definitely worth it.

It is easy to get pulled into the story of Pi from the artwork and screenshots available for Warp Shift. In an abbreviated but extremely well done intro video, you find that Pi stumbles upon a glowing cube in the woods. From there, she is transported to another world. You have to figure out how to get Pi back home through a series of intricate puzzles set up in the form of cubes, from which she can travel from one to another, when the path is set up correctly.

“Experience beautiful visual, challenging puzzles and intriguing sound design. Guide the little girl Pi and her magical companion through the maze-like confines of the enigmatic ancient chamber that keeps them trapped. Think ahead and alter your surroundings wisely to usher Pi back home – one swipe after another.” – Deep Silver/FISHLABS Entertainment and ISBIT Games

The world that the game designers have created is lush and colorful. Pi after falling for some period of time, ends up trapped in a strange place. There are multiple boxes that appear on your screen. The top half of the boxes have been shaved off so you can see what is on the interior. Pi floats to and fro within the box. You have to figure out how to get Pi to her magical companion (The cube) so that he can transport her to the next level. This is done by swiping the boxes in the proper order so that Pi has a clear path of travel. The boxes have openings on the sides, or on the bottom or top. You have to align them properly so she can float to the exit.

Warp Shift is set up such that each puzzle can be solved in a decent amount of time. One of the things that I appreciate about it most is that there aren’t any timers involved in the game. Each level has a set number of moves you can make to get to the exit. If you complete the puzzle in the right amount of moves, you three-star the level. If you make more than the required moves, you get two stars. Once you make too many moves, the infinity symbol shows up, but you can still complete the puzzle and move on. For those that have to have three stars before you move on, you will be glad to know that the game loads quickly and you can try it again as many times as you like till you get it right. There is also a hint system that you will more than likely have to use to solve some of the puzzles.

The menu user interface is pretty slick. It is a partially transparent tower. Once you complete a level, that part of the tower becomes solid. You can then rotate portions of the tower where you have completed levels to see your score, or you can play those levels again. It is a really nice design element that has been put into the game. You are also able to scroll up the tower and notice that there is much more to solve in the way of puzzles. As you get farther in the game, additional videos are unlocked that tell the story of Pi and her glowing cube-like companion.
