Trade fire in deep space in It’s a Space Thing, now out on Google Play

Released by Brad Erkkila, It’s a Space Thing is a new casual space shooter for Android. The game is quite simple, in that players are looking to defeat their clone while in outer space. The player’s character will reside and move along the bottom of the screen, firing upwards, while the “evil twin” will reside along the top of the screen, firing downward.

You will have certain tricks available to them, such as placing shields overhead to help protect against the oncoming fire, as well as various power-ups that float across the middle of the screen. These can also be fired upon to trigger an effect that is helpful to the player. If players are able to kill off their opponent, they move on to the next level, to see how many kills can be strung together before the clone gets the better in a match.

It’s A Space Thing Features:

• Challenging, high score chasing single player action against tough AI opponents.
• Boss battles against 5 different enemies.
• Complete missions to unlock bosses for an endless Boss Mode.
• Local multiplayer on one device. Challenge your friends to best of three matches.
• Utilize power-ups to devastate your enemies

Virtual controls are used in moving side to side, as well as firing and launching shields. The game is fairly fast paced, and uses the faux retro graphics. If players are able to kill off their opponent, they move on to the next level, to see how many kills can be strung together before the clone gets the better in a match.

It’s a Space Thing is available for free from Google Play. The game doesn’t contain any IAPs, but does have interstitial advertisements. For those curious on how to face off against an evil twin, check out the trailer below to see it in action.
