Pokemon GO update adds a new Pokemon Appraisal system and more

Niantic has pushed out a new update for Pokemon GO that brings with it some interesting changes to the game. One of the bigger additions is that of a Pokemon Appraisal system for trainers to use. Besides that there are a few other tweaks to the game, as well as some bug fixes.

The new Pokemon Appraisal system is all about telling trainers how good their Pokemon actually happen to be. When trying to get the best Pokemon in the game, and taking top spot in the gyms, this sort of tool is what you will now be using on a religious basis with every Pokemon you capture. In order to access this, you just need to go to an individual Pokemon’s info page. Depending on which team you have pledged allegiance to, your team leader will tell you how good your Pokemon is. Unfortunately it doesn’t give you too much of a specific answer when simply looking at your Pokemon and wondering if it is the best, but it will give you a good idea.

Other than the Pokemon Appraisal system, the update just brings a bunch of smaller bug fixes and tweaks to the game. Niantis has fixed a bug that kept defeated Pokémon at 1HP. Now these Pokémon will now return as fainted Pokémon as originally intended. What didn’t come with the update, however, is a proper tracking system which the game sorely needs. As you may be seeing, Pokemon GO has seen a steep decline in daily users, installs and so on, shedding around 10 million users. However, this could be for a number of reasons and not simply because interest is dying, although that is probably part of it to a degree. A lack of a tracking system, however, is probably a big part of it.

Niantic is working on rebalancing the Training Battles for the next update. The Pokemon GO update is now available for download off of Google Play.
