I am always elated when I find a game with a simple premise and enjoyable gameplay. When I came across Tap ‘n’ Slash, I realized Invictus Games Ltd. found the right formula for their game. You have to stay alive, take out the enemies and get the loot. However, there is more strategy in this game than you would imagine.
Tap ‘n’ Slash is a fun game. The graphics are pixelated, you can only move in forty five degree angles, and once you are dead, it is game over. Unless you want to spend some diamonds to continue the game, it is back to the beginning. The goal is to get as far as you can through the dungeon. There are a variety of enemies you will face, pits of fire, strange beasts and a pretty easy boss battle at the end of each map.
“Rush through deadly dungeons and avoid the deadly traps. Destroy the horde of orcs and goblins, smash the undead army and purge hundreds of demons. Dash with your favorite character while killing monsters, picking up the loot to upgrade the XP level of your hero.” – Invictus Games Ltd.
This game doesn’t quite fall into the clicker category. It is more of an action game with some RPG elements thrown into it. No, you don’t have a pack where you can collect stuff. You can continue to grow your loot, which in this case is only diamonds. You use the diamonds to either continue your game or to purchase different characters. You amass diamonds pretty easily, as it seems the enemies don’t really get too difficult to defeat. The challenge is in how you choose to go through the dungeon. You only have a limited amount of weapons at your disposal. Okay, actually you only have a sword, or a staff, or whatever weapon comes with the character you choose to unlock. This is where strategy takes first place in the game.
You only are given a certain amount of swords. After you have used all of your swords defeating the enemy you are on your own. Don’t worry, you can find swords sprinkled throughout each level. What that means is that you have to rapidly plan your moves to the end of the dungeon level. Why is that? The world is quickly disappearing behind you. Stay too long in one place and it is game over. Row by row, the dungeon is being eaten away from an invisible source. However, all you have to do is get to the boss battle, which typically only takes one swipe of the sword for the beast to be defeated.

There is a lot to like about Tap ‘n’ Slash. Even down to the names of the different characters you can unlock such as: Canon, the Barbarian, Sir Cancelot, Xera, the Warrior Princess, Randalf, the Grey Mage and Inuyosha. There is also book that basically lets you know who the enemies are and how much XP you gain for smashing them. Keep in mind, you don’t have to do any attacking yourself. It is automatic. Move towards an enemy on a tile and you cut them down. Easy tapping left and right.
Tap ‘n’ Slash is a great game to have on your mobile device! You can hop in and out of games quickly, or you can spend more time trying to get as far as you can in the multiple dungeons. The game is free-to-play in the best possible way. You can unlock ads which give you additional diamonds, and will remove the ads in the game. The options currently are $.99, $3.99 and $11.99. Paying for one of the aforementioned prices will allow you to buy additional diamonds in stacks of 200, 1200 and 5000. I have no gripes about this free-to-play structure. It seems very well balanced. If you like quick and fun arcade gameplay, take a look at Tap ‘n’ Slash. You will be glad that you did.
