Nintendo releases a new trailer for Super Mario Run

Platformers Android

Back in September 2016 Nintendo announced what their next mobile game would be, which is called Super Mario Run. If you happened to have missed that announcement, Super Mario Run will be a running platformer (not an endless runner) that brings back some of the older level designs from past Super Mario games.

Players will be controlling the iconic Mario as he runs through a number of different environments, all of which are themed from actual areas from the Super Mario Bros franchise. Levels and the overall game was designed with the help of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto. You won’t need to worry about moving Mario forward as he will be doing that on is own. Instead you’ll need to concentrate on having him avoid hazards and dealing with enemies that comes your way.

At the end of each level you’ll have the flagpole to jump onto just like you used to do in the older Super Mario games. Since there is an actual end to each stage, this isn’t an endless runner, but an auto-running platformer. Besides the normal game mode, Super Mario Run also has a mode in which you can collect coins while heading for the goal, and another game mode in which you will be competing against other players who have completed the same stage.

The new trailer, which you can check out below, shows more of the gameplay that you will be finding in Super Mario Run when it arrives for Android. When will that be? Well the exclusive iOS release (limited exclusivity) is still happening this December 15th, 2016. The Android version will be arriving after that, although there is no specific release date for it just yet. As for pricing, Nintendo is doing something a little different than what they did with their previous release. Super Mario Run will be free to download, but to receive unlimited access to all three game modes, you will have to fork out $10 via a single IAP.
