Cross-platform sandbox MMORPG Albion Online finally has an official release date

The cross-platform sandbox MMORPG called Albion Online, which seems to have been in a beta for years, now finally has an official release date. Along with the official release, Albion Online will also be receiving the Galahad update just before the game officially launches.

For those of you not familiar with this game, Albion Online has been in development for some time now, and features true cross-platform gameplay where players on PC play alongside those on mobile. So there isn’t a server dedicated to one platform or the other. Since this is a sandbox-style MMORPG, players can pretty much do whatever they want in this game. This can be something like focusing on being a master crafter, or more into the PvP end of things, or a full-time PvE player, and so on. Players can rent out shops, or even build their own town and running it how they see fit, including renting out land to other players to set up shop in.

Albion Online also features a classless character system. This basically means that you can change your class at any time since it is based off of the gear you’re wearing and not so much about how your character stats are allocated, although the latter does play a bit of a role in your character class. You can switch from a knight to a mage in minutes if you have the appropriate gear with you.

There’s a lot to do in Albion Online regardless of how you play the game. It does come with all the standard MMORPG features as well such as Guilds, raids, and more. The Galahad update, which will arrive March 13th, 2017 ahead of the game’s full launch, will bring with it an entire new world layout, complete rework of the game’s PvE content, and much more. So the Galahad update is pretty significant. This will also be the last update where game progress will be wiped out. So once the servers are back up on March 13th (they go down March 10th and remain offline till the 13th), anything you do in the game from that point on will remain. All Founder’s Pack items will be returned to your inventory as well.

So when will Albion Online actually be officially released? Sandbox Interactive has the official date set for July 17th, 2017 and will, of course, still be free to download and play.
