The top 5 Android stories on Droid Gamers this week

Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics

Another week, another bunch of exciting releases, updates, and announcements on Android. With so much happening, it can be difficult to know where to start when catching up after a tough week of work. Well, fear not as that’s what Droid Gamers is here for.

We’ve rounded up all of the top stories we covered this week so you don’t have to lift a finger. If you spot something we’ve missed, shout at us in the comments and we’ll try and include it in tomorrow’s round-up. Otherwise, sit back and relax into the weekend with these top five stories on Droid Gamers this week.

Clash Royale got a new competitor in Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics…

Clash Royale’s dominance as the best mobile multiplayer game might well be over now that Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics is out. Time will tell if the masses take to it, but it’s clear as day that it’s a competent copycat if anything.

It’s not entirely like for like though. The graphic style is based on the army – at least, the army in the eyes of Cartoon Network. The view is also slightly different, displayed horizontally in isometric.

If you like Clash Royale but fancy something a little different, check it out right now on Google Play for free.

…and another is on the way in the form of Titanfall: Assault

But that’s not the only Clash Royale mimicker on Android. Respawn Entertainment is next up with a version themed on the enormously popular Titanfall.

It’s called Titanfall: Assault, and sees you create a deck of Titans, Pilots, and Burn cards to fire off into battle and complete a ton of objectives. We’re not sure if that means destroying towers or something else entirely, but the whole experience smacks of Clash Royale.

If you live in the Philippines or can access the Google Play store over there, you can grab the soft launch version right now.

Nintendo confirmed that Animal Crossing will still launch on Android this fiscal year

Hankering for more Nintendo on mobile? Well, you won’t have an awfully long wait, as the mega publisher itself has just confirmed that Animal Crossing is still on schedule to launch this fiscal year.

We don’t know anything about this yet, as Nintendo is keeping schtum. The fiscal year ends next April though, so there’s not a ton of time left to wait.

A bunch of fun Star Wars stuff happened on May 4th

Star Wars Day brought with it many Android delights based on the franchise, and Droid Gamers rounded up the best of them. The best part is, you can still get in on the fun right now if you’re quick.

Star Wars Day

Bioware RPG Knights of the Old Republic is still 50% off, you can still rent Rogue One for 99c / 99p, and the Contra-style Han Solo minigame is still available in Force Collection.

Spaceplan brought a potato-themed approach to galaxy exploration

We don’t get it either, but Spaceplan launched this week. It’s a clicker that challenges you to launch potato-based devices and probes from a satellite orbiting a nearby mystery planet.

The aim is to, apparently, uncover the mysteries of the universe, but we’re not so sure that’s going to happen here.

Either way, if you like clickers and space, you should probably check it out.
