Big robots ahoy! Gundam Battle coming to the West in 2018

Namco Bandai has just announced that the closed beta for its forthcoming big robot game Gundam Battle is now closed. The game will be available in the West next year.

Gundam Battle is a game about large robots that like to cooperate creatively on initiatives that help disadvantaged people and protect the environment.

Only joking. Actually they try to kill each other. And if the feedback from the closed beta is anything to go by it’s pretty fun. According to the press release from Namco Bandai, “The second- and seven-day retention rates for GUNDAM Battle were 72.5-percent and 47-percent, respectively.”

YEAH!

Gundam Battle will feature 21 different Mobile Suits. Some of them will be familiar from New Mobile Report Gundam Wing and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, but there are others from the extended Gundam universe.

The game will boast a Story mode, an Arena mode, and a Team Battle mode, where up to three players team up to reduce a giant boss mech to a cracking heap of springs and bolts.

Just watch the trailer. It’s full of lasers.
