Square Enix has broken mobile gamer’s hearts everywhere by declaring that there will be no more GO games on mobile. For the record, that’s the likes of Hitman GO, Lara Croft GO, and Deus EX GO.
The enormous publisher argues that there is no space for premium games on mobile anymore, and we can hardly disagree with them. Free to play has enormous profit margins while premium continues to struggle.
Premium games don’t work on mobile, according to the publisher
It’s still a shame though. The GO games were super high quality experiences that we didn’t mind showing off to your console brethren.
It also speaks volumes that several of them actually made it onto console themselves. Hopefully that opens the door for future console iterations at least, as we’d hate to see the back of them.
What do you think of this development? Do you think Square Enix is justified in its decision? Do you think a free to play iteration of the franchise could work instead? Let us know in the comments.
