Celebi will finally arrive in Pokémon GO on August 20, Niantic has finally announced.
Much like when Niantic rolled out Mew, Celebi will only be available by completing a special research quest.

Unlike field research quests, which involve completing a single challenge for a small reward, special research quests have a bunch of challenges to complete before you get your hands on the big prize.
Don’t worry if you’ve already caught Celebi though, as this won’t make the whole feature redundant. Complete the special research quest this time around and you’ll unlock Celebi candy.
So go ahead and grab Pokémon GO on Google Play right now in anticipation of Celebi launching August 20.
