MU Origin 3.0 update brings new dungeons, mounts, Server Assault mode, and more

Just last month MU Origin was in the news with a slew of in-game events to celebrates its two-year anniversary. Not content to rest on its laurels, publisher Webzen has followed that extravaganza with a huge content update.

MU Origin, in case you’re not acquainted, is a cutting edge 3D MMORPG. It sees you venturing out into a vast open world environment completing missions, exploring dungeons, fighting in the PvP arena, trading with other players, competing in the Guild league, and much, much more.

The latest update, which brings the game all the way up to 3.0, adds a variety of new content and systems.

Let’s start with the new Mount system. Mounts are, as probably know, horses — or at least animals you can ride. These both speed up your journeys and increase your stats. In addition, each Mount has a skill to use in battle.

MU Origin new and improved

You can get a mount as soon as you’ve completed the main quest (New Friend). It’s possible to level-up your mounts, too, using Power Crystals, and evolve them using Mount Evolve Stones. If you want your Power Crystals back, you can disassemble a mount.

You have four mount slots, but only one of them can be equipped at a time.

Next up there’s the Awaken system. This lets you activate Awaken Stones to enhance your equipment. These come in two flavours — attack and defence — and you can use them to upgrade stuff like your weapon, your rings, and your armour.

Webzen has also added a new server dungeon, called Infernal Canyon. Available after 3 Rebirth Level 60, this new dungeon allows a maximum of five players to form a party and enter the fray for 15 minutes.

Infernal Canyon is basically a self-contained boss stage. The boss monster appears as soon as you enter the dungeon, and when you get it down to 40% HP it summons its Mounts for buffs and heals.

Grand Canyon

As you can probably tell, the Infernal Canyon is a tough challenge, but if you survive you’ll get a couple of valuable treasure chests and some XP.

There’s a new all-server area for Rebirth 14, too. It’s called Abyss Temple. The biggest new feature is probably the new Server Assault, which allows you to loot other servers via PvP fights.

To access this dastardly arena, you need to reach Rebirth 7 Level 55, and then show up every Sunday at 21:30. Each season lasts 13 weeks. You’ll also need to apply for a qualification to invade, which is only available to the three Guild Masters who submit the largest bids during the auction, which starts at 19:00 every Sunday.

There’s a whole ream of rules and regulations governing how many times players can enter an invaded battlefield, how many resources can be seized, and so on, but the headline is this: you can now enter other servers and take on a whole new galaxy of human opponents.

To get involved, just download MU Origin from Google Play or the App Store right now.
