Mario Kart Tour is Getting a Real-Time Multiplayer Beta in December, and It’s Only For Gold Pass Subscribers

Mario Kart Tour is the game that keeps on giving. This time, I can confirm that the highly anticipated multiplayer game mode is coming, but only to Gold Pass subscribers.

Mario Kart Tour – Everything Wrong with the Video Game Industry

Mario Kart Tour is the Mario Kart game that came out with no multiplayer capabilities. However, this December Nintendo has confirmed they will launch a multiplayer beta test. This beta will allow Gold Pass members to compete with other players in real-time. This doesn’t mean free-to-play players will never get multiplayer. Instead, they will get it at an unconfirmed later date.

Loyal fans of Nintendo will argue that they need a small number of players to test the multiplayer. But I argue that a game that has been released well over a month ago should not be testing something as important as multiplayer. I believe a game should only come out when it is finished, which would stop disasters such as Fallout 76 and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

If you ask me, it looks like Nintendo is trying to squeeze players into purchasing their pathetic Gold Pass, hoping to make more money. I would normally say something like “I expect better from Nintendo”, but I can safely say I don’t anymore. Nintendo is guilty of the same greed and predatory practices other industry-leading developers have been accused of in recent times (Activision, EA, and Bethesda).

If you want to download Mario Kart Tour, then you can do so here. But I would warn you not to bother because of all the reasons mentioned in my review.
