Simulacra Developer Kaigan is Working on a Doctor Who Horror Game

Kaigan, the studio behind ingenious horror adventure games Simulacra and Sara is Missing, is working on a sci-fi horror game based in the Doctor Who universe.

Revealed in a post by Maze Theory, who are working in partnership with Kaigan, the forthcoming Doctor Who title will be a “horror/sci-fi mobile phone takeover game”.

In case you’re not up on your obscure gaming terminology, a mobile phone takeover game – or “found phone” game – is one that attempts to mimic the normal functionality of a mobile handset. In the case of Simulacra, that means watching videos and combing through messages on a lost handset.

Here’s a trailer for refernence.

According to Maze Theory’s post, “fans can expect new adventures, new game mechanics, intriguing subplots and iconic features such as the TARDIS, terrifying Weeping Angels, imposing Daleks and – of course – the chance to collude with the Doctor herself.”

The unnamed Doctor Who project will be along next year.
