Best New Android Games and Sales: Danganronpa 2, Monster Dash, Horizon Chase, and More

It looks a bit like the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse on the Google Play Store this week, with a range of old games rising from the grave to terrorise Android gamers. Or amuse them.

There are some cracking bargains to be had, including a half-price Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition – a real tempter in the week that Danganronpa 2 arrives.

New Games

Atari Combat: Tank Fury

Some of you may be old enough to remember Atari Combat, the primitive home console tank game that introduced a generation to PvP gaming and hand cramp. Tank Fury isn’t anything like that game – instead it’s a match-three puzzler with a military theme.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition

It wasn’t that long ago that Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, a decade-old classic about a high school murder game, hit the Google Play Store. Danganronpa 2 has the same premise, with gameplay that alternates between courtroom drama and interactive high school novel, but the setting is a resort island.

Monster Dash

Of course, Monster Dash is not a “new” game, but over the years this popular autorunner starring Barry Steakfries gradually succumbed to obsolescence and vanished from the Google Play Store. Now it’s back, and fully optimised for the cutting edge smartphones of 2020 and beyond.

Sales

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition

For the second time in recent memory, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition is on sale, this time presumably to mark the launch of Danganronpa 2. If you want to get your homework done before jumping into that game, this half-price bonanza is a good opportunity.

Horizon Chase

Horizon Chase is five, and to celebrate its fifth birthday Aquiris has slashed the price of the full game unlock by 60%. In addition, it’s added a range of events that you can compete in for prizes.

Prune

Prune goes on sale quite often, but it’s worth highlighting from time to time because it’s a unique and gorgeous puzzler. The gameplay sees you pruning the branches of a tree to help it grow into the light and avoid obstacles. Developer Joel McDonald has pruned the price by 75%, making it a stone cold no-brainer.

Inbento

Inbento is a beautiful puzzle game in which you play as a mother cat arranging bento boxes for her kitten, who grows up into a cat during the course of a heartwarming and fun campaign.
