Prizefighters 2, Koality Games’s Punch-Out!!-esque retro boxing game, is out now on the Google Play Store.
At this point we should stress that the Punch-Out!! resemblance is only skin-deep. Prizefighters 2 is much deeper and more sophisticated than both the Nintendo classic and the original Prizefighters.
This applies both to the action in the ring, which has graduated from a couple of swipe commands to an array of virtual buttons for pulling off different moves, and to the career mode, which sees you training, sparring, and optimising your regime to ensure you’re match-ready.
Once you’ve reached the end of your career, you can take another boxer under your wing and manage their career, putting them up against your former rivals, perhaps including the impudent young buck who brought your career to a standstill.
There’s even a Be the Promoter mode, which allows you to manage the whole league, and you can import custom leagues created by the Prizefighters 2 community.
Prizefighters 2 is free to download, with a $2.99 IAP for the premium version. Download it right now on the Google Play Store.
