HandyGames Is Bringing SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom to Mobile This Month

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is coming to mobile on the 21st of January, courtesy of publisher HandyGames and developer Purple Lamp Studios. It’s available for pre-registration now.

Originally released in 2003, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a 3D platformer in which you run around the titular subaquatic settlement defeating robots and collecting various different items. You play as Patrick, Sandy, and SpongeBob himself as you strive to defeat – who else – Plankton.

While it wasn’t super-popular at the time, the game attracted enough of a cult following over the years to merit a remake, which came out last year, featuring souped-up visuals, modernised gameplay, and content that was cut from the original.

The remake – subtitled Rehydrated, though not on mobile – also received fairly mixed reviews, but if you’re a fan of SpongeBob you’re bound to enjoy it. There’s controller support, too.

The mobile version of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom will be out on the 21st costing $8.99. You can pre-register for it right now.
