The Witcher: Monster Slayer Out Now for Android

We’ve been banging on about The Witcher: Monster Slayer for a while, and now the game has finally gone live globally on the Play Store. So if you’re up for some AR-based monster hacking action, you’re in luck.

The game is essentially a grittier version of Pokemon Go. Okay, that’s probably a bit of an oversimplification. It’s an AR monster-battling game set in the universe of The Witcher games. You’ll wander around the real world, kill beasts on your phone and proudly display their digital trophies.

Because this is The Witcher, different monsters appear depending on the time of day and even the weather conditions. And you’ll need to brew potions to take down the tougher enemies. Here’s a trailer.

You’ll need a phone running Android 7.0 and up to run it, which isn’t too shabby. The game features new AR techniques that are apparently going to make you look at real-life locations in completely new ways. We suppose it’s rare we encounter squawking water monsters in real life, so that seems fair.

The Witcher: Monster Hunter is free to play with IAP, and if you want to grab it from the Google Play Store you can do just that by clicking right here.

Are you going to use the game as an excuse to go for a wander? Sick of AR experiences? Let us know. There’s probably a joke to be made about setting off on a wild hunt, but we’ll let you do that yourselves.
