Ark Legends, the hotly anticipated mobile RPG from developer Melting Games, is heading into closed beta for Android users on December 1st.
If you’re lucky enough to win a place on the beta you’ll be able to get in on the ground floor of a game that looks set to dominate the genre in 2022. And if you don’t, you can still put yourself in the running for some prizes by pre-registering (and you can only do so via the game’s official site).
And not just the usual in-game items, either, but also Amazon vouchers and a pair of AirPods.
So what’s all the fuss about? Well, Ark Legends is shaping up to be a technically polished, highly playable take on the gacha RPG genre, with a fun steampunk aesthetic and a cast of beautifully designed characters.
Among them are Ray, a handsome warrior rocking a sweet suit of armor and a massive spear, Athena, a kickass warrior goddess with a powerful shield, and Regulus, a charismatic tribal leader with a golden battleaxe.
These heroes belong to six different classes and six different alignments. They all have their own unique skills and abilities, too, giving you limitless scope to create powerful combinations as you strive to build the perfect squad.
Gameplay-wise, Ark Legends sees you recruiting heroes, building your army, and setting out to defeat Demons, topple bosses, and advance through the stages. Or, you can go after your fellow humans in the Immersive Battle Arena.
Either way you’ll need to be tactically astute, with a mastery of every hero’s skills, strengths, and weaknesses.
Interestingly, you get your own role in Ark Legends’s sprawling storyline. At the center of everything is the explorer, who loses his memory and wakes up on the land of Ark. As you advance through the campaign you unlock these lost memories, giving Ark Legends a sense of narrative momentum.
