The Best New Games for Android This Week – Legend of Mana, Linia Super and More

Another week has been set to slumber in an unmarked grave, the wheel spinning ever forwards, time’s inexorable march taking us ever closer to the heat death of the universe. But on the upside, some games came out on the Play Store, so let’s make a list of them.

This week has seen a mix of big new releases, some indie classics and at least one game where you poke a scooter to make it do crazy spins. It truly is a golden age.

You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the Play Store. And if you’ve got your own suggestions of awesome new games, be a darl’ and let us know in the comments.

Legend of Mana

A big, shiny remastering of a classic JRPG. This one came out on consoles earlier in the year, and now you can play it by poking at your phone. It’s got some neat ideas, and includes some content that hasn’t been seen outside of Japan before. It’s got the usual Squeenix steep price point – even with a launch sale for 20% off, it’ll still set you back $21.99.

Fantasy Life Online

A casual-ish online RPG that lets you team up with friends to go questing together. There are different roles to choose from, different kinds of gameplay to experience, and a cute art style holds it all together quite nicely. It’s free with IAP.

Touchgrind Scooter

Roll a small-wheeled, non-electric scooter around a series of ramp and rail-filled levels, pulling off tricks and possibly whooping as you do. It’s just as entertaining at the other Touchgrind games, although it can get a bit grindy to unlock everything. It’s free with IAP.

Linia Super

The sequel to the rather excellent Linia, this one’s a puzzler that’s all about drawing lines to make connections. It’s more complex than that, but we don’t have the space to explain it. It’s deep, it’s interesting and there are 100 levels to have a crack at. It’s free with IAP.

Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage

The legendary rhythm action game returns with more songs, more idols and more watching other people playing while you just hang out. It’s still endlessly entertaining, and packed with heart. It’s free with IAP.
