The Best Escape Room Games for Android

House of Da Vinci Android

Sometimes you’re trapped in a room and you need to solve a series of fiendish puzzles to get out. Like, not that often, and usually on purpose. But what if you want to recapture that feeling on your smartphone or tablet?

Well that’s where this list comes in. We’ve had a gander at the Play Store and picked what we think are the very best escape room games available for Android. Some of them are sort of escape room adjacent, but they capture the spirit of the getting-out-of-a-place genre.

You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the Play Store. Unless otherwise mentioned, they’re premium. And if you’ve got your own favorite you’d like to share, stick it in the comments section at the bottom of the article.

Doors: Paradox

We’ll start this off with a game that packs a lot into a small package. You’re solving puzzles to open doors, and each level will only take a handful of pretty darn pleasant minutes. It looks good, and there are a lot of little “ah-ha” moments to keep you going. This one’s free with IAP and if you like it there are more games in the series to check out.

Machinika Museum

This one is built around a series of logical and mechanical puzzles and sees you playing around with strange contraptions of extra-terrestrial origin. There are secrets hidden, and a story about just where the alien machines came from. It’s free with IAP.

Gorogoa

Probably the furthest stretch in terms of escaping rooms, but this puzzler is going to tick a lot of the same mental boxes. You’re connecting images, using them to solve puzzles in super pleasing and engaging ways. It’s kind of like travelling through a living work of art, and it’s the sort of game that will stay with you for a long time.

The Room: Old Sins

Any of the games from The Room series could have made it onto this list, but we’ve gone for this one because it’s the newest, and new things are always best, right? You’re manipulating switches, poking, pulling and twisting and digging deep into a mystery. It’s gloomy in all the right ways.

The Office Quest

Rather than just escaping from a room, in this one you’re escaping from the soul-numbing drudgery of office work. Which is, quite frankly, something all of us can relate to. It’s got a dry sense of humor, it’s got some great puzzles and some interesting characters to boot. It’s free to start with IAPs to unlock the rest.

The House of Da Vinci

It would be easy to pass off The House of Da Vinci as a shallow The Room clone, but there’s actually a lot going on here that sets it apart from its inspiration. There’s a unique atmosphere here as well, and it’s hard not to get sucked into the story.

The Lost City

Technically this one’s more about getting into rooms than it is getting out of them, but it’s set in a cool jungle city, so we’re going to allow it. There’s loads of tricky puzzles as well as ideas mixed in from other genres like point-and-click and hidden object. It’s getting on a bit, but there’s still a lot of fun to find here.

Tiny Room Stories

A mixture of concepts come together to make this crime-solving adventure pretty darn good. There are, as you might be able to guess, plenty of tiny rooms to get out of, and a mysterious town that’s gone full Mary Celeste. It’s free with IAPs.

Cube Escape: The Lake

There are loads of games in the Cube Escape series and they’re all well worth checking out. There’s even one called Paradox, because paradoxes seem to be all the rage in escape rooms. We went with The Lake, because we like lakes. The game’s free, and it’s full of wonderful weirdness like all of the Rusty Lake games.

Cabin Escape: Alice’s Story

Glitch Games makes loads of really good adventure games, but this one distills plenty of what makes them so good into a shorter package. It’s all about getting out of a cabin in the woods, but, inevitably, there’s loads more going on than that. It’s free, but you can spend money on hints.
