For some reason, the gaming industry is hyper-fixated on cloud gaming, and that fixation is coming to Android. Following the underwhelming Logitech G, the Razer Edge is an all-new cloud gaming handheld that may be pretty decent.
What is the Razer Edge?
Revealed during RazerCon, the Razer Edge is a new Android handheld that might be good to use. Designed first and foremost for cloud gaming, this new Android handheld may have uses outside of that.
Rocking a 144Hz, 2,400 x 1,080 6.8-inch AMOLED screen, the Edge is an absolute beauty. Underneath, a 288Hz touch-sampling rate helps to keep touchscreen gaming buttery smooth. However, you likely won’t be using the screen for gaming.
The Razer Edge tablet is housed inside a Kishi V2 controller, a fantastic control device. This means that you’ll be able to play Xbox Game Pass games or native titles with full controller support, offering every input you could need.
To connect flawlessly to cloud gaming, the Edge has WiFi 6E and multi-gig bandwidth support. However, if you want to stream games on the go, you’ll have to get the 5G version from Verizon.
However, while Razer’s cloud gaming device is proficient for streaming, it’s offline gaming that mostly interests us. With this in mind, does it have the edge?

The Logitech G cloud gaming handheld was criticised for being a weak Android handheld. On the other hand, it seems that Razer isn’t following that trend. Instead, the Razer Edge appears to be fairly well equipped to handle high-quality games.
The handheld runs on the new Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 platform, a chip designed for this device. This gives you a 3Ghz octa-core Kryo CPU and an Adreno GPU, kept calm by active cooling and six air vents.
Furthermore, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM crushes Logitech’s measly 4GB. There’s also 128GB of storage as well as MicroSD support for storing extra content…emulation roms, perhaps?
The new handheld will launch for $400 sometime near January. If you’ve been looking for an all-new gaming device, this could be it.
