Konami, in partnership with tri-Ace, have a time-manipulating RPG coming our way soon called Chronos Ring. If you are a fan of old school RPGs, you may instantly think of the old Chrono franchise (Chrono Trigger etc etc) from Square Enix but as far as we can tell, this is not part of that franchise although the box art and name tend to say otherwise.
While all the details for this game are a little on the sparse side of things, we do know that the battles in this game will be 3D vertical fights. This is due to the fact that the game is played in portrait mode apparently. Like most RPGs, players will have a variety of characters to choose from, each with their own set of skills that you slowly unlock as you level up and become stronger.
A NeoGAF user, going by the name of Baust, has managed to translate a line from the game’s website which explains a little about the game’s storyline: “Rebel against your fate as you manipulate time on the battlefield”. It’s not a whole lot to go on but it is something at least.
tri-Ace isn’t new to the RPG arena either, with games such as Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean series as well as Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns more recently. So they are a pretty experienced team in regards to RPGs which means we have high hopes for Chronos Ring. We will post an update when more details are released.
