A polished HD port of a slightly obscure SNES game from the early 90’s that mashes together platforming and city-building in a beguiling and surprisingly effective mixture.
The game is split into two halves. On one you’re working your way through action platforming sections, in the other you’re building and defending your city.
There are a few tweaks in this remastered version, from new magic and attacking options and a re-arranged soundtrack with 15 new tunes. Can’t beat some new tunes.
The disparate parts of Actraiser sound like they shouldn’t work when you cram them together, and yet they do. And they come together to make a truly unique gaming experience.
There’s a very good chance you missed Actraiser the first time round, and the new lease of life this mobile release has given it is a chance for an amazing game to reach the audience that it deserves.
