As I mentioned in my original article about Red Barton and the Sky Pirates, we were going to snag an interview with the developers if possible, and we have done that. So, as promised, here is an short interview i was able to secure with Aleksandar Djordjevic, CEO of Schism Worldwide.

Earlier this year we had the opportunity to talk with Hibernum, the the team of talented individuals behind the soon to be released game Saber’s Edge. Fast forward to a few months later, and Saber’s Edge has been released worldwide for Android and iOS devices. A fascinating world has been created for this unique puzzle/action/strategy game. We were fortunate enough to talk with Hibernum and the game’s producer, Marc-Andre Larose about the creation of this intriguing amalgamation of game genres.
Previously, we had covered the early progress of an RPG in the same universe as the card game of Android: Netrunners. Since the RPG isn’t a direct port of Netrunners, it is referred to in the interview below as simply “Android”, the name of the universe in which Netrunners occurs.
Welcome to the DroidGamers Indie Spotlight. As the amount of games being released in the Play Store increase exponentially, some really great games get overlooked. Sometimes, it is even more difficult, being an Independent Game developer to get your game noticed. As a new column, DroidGamers will be highlighting Indie Game Developers that show great promise in game design. Hibernum is a game development studio and much more. Located near the intersecting streets of Rue de Bleury and West Sainte-Catherine Street, you will find the creators of Magic: The Gathering Puzzle Quest, Bruce Lee: Enter the Game, and the soon to be released action-puzzle game, Saber’s Edge. DroidGamers had the opportunity to go behind the scenes to find out a bit more about Hibernum’s genesis and future plans. Frederick Faubert, President and Creative Director and Louis-Rene Auclair, Chief Brand Officer were kind enough to answer a few questions so that we could learn more.
I came across a game not long ago that grabbed my attention. The game had interesting looking youthful characters, and bright colors dipped in varying hues. It looked like a runner of sorts, but there was something about it that seemed like it would be fun to play. I reached out to Lightbound Studios and made contact with Artak Avakyan, the founder of Lightbound Studios. I was impressed to find out that this game has been created solely by Mr. Avakyan. After interviewing him, I find Mr. Avakyan to be a brilliant and humble game designer, with big dreams for Lightbound Studios.
Puzzle games have a huge following in the Play Store. Everyone likes a good challenging game that they can play that doesn’t take a lot of time. You can hop right in, play a game or two and move on. Or, you can spend more time perfecting your skills if the game is long enough. The Ultrateam knows how to make a good puzzle game. Their first game ULTRAFLOW was downloaded over three million times in the Play Store and the iOS App Store. As anyone would consider that hugely successful, DroidGamers had an opportunity to interview the team, to find out what makes a good puzzle game, and why they decided to pursue a sequel, with the recently released ULTRAFLOW 2.
Rayark Games is at the forefront of creating a whole new universe. The universe is one that is not only being created for gamers, but all who enjoy the art of good storytelling, fine art and are willing to expand their minds venturing into what could be. One way to describe Rayark Games is a Taiwanese company that is a multimedia juggernaut.
As game enthusiasts, we enjoy hitting the install button in the Google Play Store. Have you thought about what it takes to get a game from the drawing board to the Play Store. I can assure you there are a myriad of steps. It is not enough to have a great idea for a game. If you do have a great idea, you are one step closer to your goal, but there are many steps to follow. Noodlecake Games and Riverman Media, the publishers and creators behind the game The Executive, shed a little light on the process, and how they worked together to get it done.
DroidGamers has an opportunity every now and then, to learn more about the companies that make the games we enjoy playing. We get the chance to find out about their inner workings, and what drives them to create games. Nekki, the game developer behind Shadow Fight 2 and the immensely popular Vector, has given DroidGamers such an opportunity. This is a two-part interview. In this first interview, we will learn about the origins and inner workings of Nekki. Our second interview will be about the highly anticipated Vector 2, which is in development now, and will be coming to Android/iOS very soon.
