Puzzle games have a huge following in the Play Store. Everyone likes a good challenging game that they can play that doesn’t take a lot of time. You can hop right in, play a game or two and move on. Or, you can spend more time perfecting your skills if the game is long enough. The Ultrateam knows how to make a good puzzle game. Their first game ULTRAFLOW was downloaded over three million times in the Play Store and the iOS App Store. As anyone would consider that hugely successful, DroidGamers had an opportunity to interview the team, to find out what makes a good puzzle game, and why they decided to pursue a sequel, with the recently released ULTRAFLOW 2.

As game enthusiasts, we enjoy hitting the install button in the Google Play Store. Have you thought about what it takes to get a game from the drawing board to the Play Store. I can assure you there are a myriad of steps. It is not enough to have a great idea for a game. If you do have a great idea, you are one step closer to your goal, but there are many steps to follow. Noodlecake Games and Riverman Media, the publishers and creators behind the game The Executive, shed a little light on the process, and how they worked together to get it done.
DroidGamers has an opportunity every now and then, to learn more about the companies that make the games we enjoy playing. In this first interview, we will learn about the origins and inner workings of Nekki. Our second interview will be about the highly anticipated Vector 2, which is in development now, and will be coming to Android/iOS very soon.
Goon Studios is an independent game studio you will want to remember. They have high ideals and talent that runs deep. I don’t remember exactly how I came across Goon Studios website last year, but I came away impressed. Maybe it was the artwork shown in the screenshots of the game Keipr that they are working on. It could also have been that when I went to the about us section, that I thought it was pretty intriguing that the images of the Goons weren’t just regular old photographs.
At the end of January 2015 fans of the Duke Nukem franchise got a surprise announcement. That announcement was a massive collection of Duke Nukem games that are coming to Android in what is called the Duke Nukem 3D: Hail to the King Collection. “Alone in a dungeon sat a Dodo in a cage. She was overwhelmed by sadness, her eggs had been taken away.” So begins your journey with a brilliantly conceived, and challenging platforming game, called Dodo Master. The game was released earlier this year on iOS, with a preponderance of high praise. Android gamers will have the opportunity very shortly, to experience what many iOS users have enjoyed. It is an old school platformer that rewards you for your skills, and punishes you for the lack thereof. Semir Saleh, the independent game designer of Dodo Master, was kind enough to speak with me, to talk about his game, his origins and why he is willing to do it all over again. I introduce to you, the Dodo Master himself, Semir Saleh.
I had the opportunity to interview Jonas Byrresen of Bedtime Digital Games. Their new game Back to Bed is now available for Android devices. The interview allows us to get to know the designer and Bedtime Digital Games. We get to peer into the process for creating such art and are thankful to Klaus Pedersen and Jonas Byrresen for taking the time to answer our questions.
SuperHippo Games, based in Ireland, released Pirate Legends TD late last week in the Play Store. Yes, I know what you are thinking. There are an abundance of tower defense games out there. However, few of them take place on the high seas and are full of such robust action as displayed in Pirate Legends. I was given the opportunity to find out more about the game, the company that produced it and how SuperHippo plans to impact the mobile gaming arena. René Laurent, Lead Game Designer for Pirate Legends TD was gracious enough to answer a few questions for me.
