Seriously, where did this come from? Out of nowhere that is where it came from. Square Enix just dropped a massive title onto the Android Market which wasn’t even hinted at being on the way. Crystal Defenders is now available on the Android Market and comes with both W1 and W2 in the same package.
Can you hear that? That is the sound of the word “Finally” being cheered throughout the developer community, especially regarding the Android gaming sector, as Google announced a few new enhancements coming out way in the first quarter of 2011. The major one is the ability to allow in-app purchases.
As the title suggests, you need to be a bit of a MacGuyver and build structures using coconuts, vines and some bamboo in the second installment of the Tiki Towers game by Game House called, Tiki Towers 2: Monkey Republic. Your goal in this game is to use the above mentioned items and build structures to save your fellow monkeys.
So it is a new year and there are many many things in the works for everyone here at DroidGamers. As you know, we have been growing incredibly fast and have had a bit of growing pains in the process, mostly on the technical side of things. Another 3rd party app store is set to launch very soon called MobileApps.com and while another 3rd party app store is nothing new these days, the cut in profits they are offering developers is. Trying to garner the reputation of the Robin Hood for mobile developers, MobileApps.com will be offering a 95% profit cut for developers to take.
So some random gaming site called The SlowDown took the time to site down and talk to Epic’s Vice President, Jay Wilbur, to talk about development of games on the mobile platform among other things. Jay Wilbur mentions that one major hurdle is the hardware fragmentation that Android currently has… really?
A major part of being successful in the mobile gaming industry is actually making some money off your product whether it be through ads, paid downloads or in-game purchases, revenue is important. You can have the greatest game in the world but if you can’t pay your bill, you can’t support your product.
Gameloft officially announced that Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus would be released ‘soon’ and since then reports have ranged from Jan 18th – early February. However the only other specific date mentioned is Jan. 28th, 2011 which is right around the corner. In fact multiple sites are reporting that it will be Jan. 28th, 2011.
For all of you who have been waiting for Shift to come out of beta and become available on the Android Market, especially after not getting into the limited closed beta, your wait is over. You can now head over to the Android Market and pick up Shift by Armor Games for your Android phone and start playing this great game.
Once, on a very rare occasion, we will post about things not relating to Android gaming although they are gaming related. This is one of those particular posts that isn’t relating to Android gaming but it is a damn cool product. However, we want to make this Android related and we will explain how below.
