Dead Rails Werewolf Guide
Time to try and pack in all the info. (Sorry.)
About Werewolves
Werewolves are one of the more dangerous enemies in Dead Rails. They usually spawn at night under a full moon (red moons tend to spawn vampires instead). You can also find them amongst packs of wolves during the day. Moon-spawning werewolves will despawn at dawn, but the ones that spawn with packs of wolves do not.
Werewolves are fast, and have high defense, taking around 12 revolver shots to go down.
How To Deal With Werewolves
The easiest way to deal with a werewolf is… don’t. They eat up a lot of ammo and they can tear through your health if you get close. It’s easier to keep driving to avoid it, or head to the nearest fort and let the turrets to handle it. However there are a few reasons to take on a werewolf.
- Necessity. Sometimes you’re out of fuel at night under a full moon.
- Fuel. You can burn a werewolf for an impressive five notches on your fuel gauge.
- Money. Werewolf bodies are worth 20$ at the trading post.
So how to deal with them? Here are our tips.
- If you can, use the train. Hitting a werewolf with the train instantly wastes that werewolf. In multiplayer this is especially useful, as you might be able to lure the wolf onto the tracks before another player drives the train over it.
- Turrets are also a good option. Turrets can take the werewolf down fairly fast, just be aware the replacing the ammo can be pricey.
- Use Forts. The turret defenses will make short work of werewolves, and leave you with the bodies to make a tidy profit.
- Barbed Wire. Werewolves can climb the train, so make it tough to climb! Wire and barriers make it harder for them to jump up and maul you.
- Use Horses. You can fire a weapon from horseback. This can give you a speed boost to outrun the werewolf while attacking.
