The new update just dropped and a whole extra area just opened up in Fisch. Well, opened up might not be exactly the right word for it. The door is there, but opening it is a bit more of a challenge. That’s what we’re here to talk about in our Fisch Depths Key guide.

Time to explain.
The Depths Door
The Depths Door is a huge sealed bulkhead found in Vertigo at the bottom of the Vertigo Dip. If you want to find it, it’s fairly easy, just hop down and follow the red crystals. There you’ll find the NPC, The Keeper. He tells you that the doors will open when you meet both of the following criteria.
- Completing the Vertigo bestiary.
- This means catching every species available in Vertigo.
- While the Isonade is in the Vertigo Bestiary, it’s actually caught by fishing in a Strange Whirlpool on the surface.
- Finding a Depths Key.
So, how do you find a Depths Key?
Getting A Depths Key
You get a Depths Key through fishing in Vertigo. It’s a new rarity, Exotic, so not all that easy to get hold of. It shows up in the day, though there’s no preference for season, weather, or bait. While it’s an object, as far as we can tell Magnets or the Magnet Rod don’t have any effect on your likelihood of catching one.
You just need to be patient and keep at it.
Using The Depths Key
Once you have found a key, equip it from the hotbar and present it at the door. If you’ve also completed the Bestiary, the doors should open.
But beware! The Depths Key is a one-time use item. This means if you go into The Depths then quit out, you will spawn back at your spawn point with no Depths Key, and need to start fishing for it all over again. So don’t waste it!
