Despite its name, this beastly shark isn’t a Mythic, nor is it hard to reel it when snagged on a line. This Fisch Shortfin Mako Shark guide tells you about this catch including preferences, bestiary location and more!

Fisch Shortfin Mako Shark Guide
Before the Forsaken Shores nestled into the Fisch map, the Nurse Shark was the lowest rarity shark to catch sitting at Unusual. Now, the Shortfin Mako, a Common, dethroned it. The Shortfin Mako is small in size and covered in gashes and pink surface wounds, when snagged on a line, the player has the typical red exclamation mark, and they sell for up to 120C$~ without mutations.
When completing your Foresaken Bestiary, you won’t need to use a Fish Radar for this fish since the Shortfin Mako lurks around the island’s waters freely without an abundance location. However, it does have some preferred spawning conditions.
Shortfin Mako Shark Preferences
Thanks to its Common Rarity, the Shortfin Mako isn’t as strict with its spawn preferences. That said, if you have the ideal climate and are fishing around the Forsaken Ocean, you’ll be sure to catch plenty of them.
- Preferred Bait: Deep Coral (Legendary Rarity)
- Added during the Desolate Deep Update and only found within Coral Geodes. Fortunately, they’re easy to catch and sit on the market in the Desolate Pocket for sale at 600C$ permanently.
- Time: Night
- For 2000C$ and a trip to Sunstone Island, you’re able to buy the Sundial Totem that switches the current time cycle to its opposing (day/night). Though, this might be overkill for a Common catch…
- Weather: Rain
- Similarly to the Sundial, the Tempest Totem found on Terrapin changes the current weather to Rainy for just 2000C$.
- Season: Any/No Preference
