Due to the latest controversy surrounding the Roblox platform, many people are asking, Is Roblox Shutting Down on September 1st? We’re here to explain what’s going on and whether the platform is disappearing.
Is Roblox Shutting Down on September 1st?
On the 18th of August, 2025, an account on X (formerly known as Twitter) called RobloxNoobifier made a post showing what appears to be a Roblox announcement. The announcement says it’s an “Official Announcement” and that, from September 1st, the platform will no longer be available.
Many people believed the post was legit because of how real it looked, as the announcement had the Roblox format. The account that posted it often makes Roblox-related posts, which also makes it look authentic. However, this announcement was fake, and the account is not a part of the official Roblox team.

Roblox Controversy
Despite the post being fake, there is still controversy around the platform. Many people are raising concerns about the safety of children on the app, and there has even been a lawsuit from the Louisiana Attorney General.
Although the platform will not be removed on September 1st, it does highlight some of the current issues the company is going through. David Baszucki made a statement explaining that Roblox is working on developing new safety features and how they are planning to make Roblox safer.
Will Roblox Shut Down?
No, not at the moment anyway. False rumours like this appear every few months to scare players. Roblox is a huge platform, and they have said they are working on practices to try and make it safer for children.
Roblox has appeared at Gamescom in Germany this month. So it wouldn’t make sense for them to appear at a huge event, only for them to shut down. Similarly, Roblox has not made an official announcement saying it will shut down.
