Monster Hunter Now HP Regen – How it Works

Monster Hunter Now character regenning HP.

I’ve noticed that a lot of players are confused by the Monster Hunter Now HP regen system, and I am one of you! When I first started playing, I didn’t even realise there was passive HP regen. I’ve since spent a ton of time with the game figuring out how it works, as well as investing in the community so we can figure it out as a group. The result is this guide, which details exactly how HP regen works, and how to make the most of it.

Monster Hunter Now takes the Pokémon GO formula and applies it to the Monster Hunter universe. It works in a very similar manner, though you hunt monsters instead of catch them. There are the equivalent of Pokéstops, where you gather materials, and instead of gyms you have monsters. Beat monsters and you can craft new gear from them, which allows you to take on even more challenging monsters.

Monster Hunter Now is out right now on Google Play. You can also check out our Monster Hunter Now friend codes, Monster Hunter Now combo, and Monster Hunter Now level cap guides.

Monster Hunter Now HP Regen

Now, let’s take a look at everything you need to know about Monster Hunter Now HP regen.

Is There HP Regen?

First question: is there HP regen? You betcha! Whenever you take damage in Monster Hunter Now, your HP will passively regen back to full. It isn’t super quick though, so you can’t rely on it to get you out of a bind if you’ve taken a lot of damage in a fight.

How Does HP Regen Work?

Whenever you are not in combat, you will passively regain HP. It will continue to regen until you are at full health.

The rate it grows is up to debate, but a very helpful Redditor did time it, and suggested that 1 HP per 30 seconds is roughly the rate. That means that you will regain 25% of your HP per 15 minutes, or back to full health in an hour.

The Reddit community also suggested that you regain a portion of HP following a battle, but I just tested that. I was on 84 HP when the monster fell, and remained on 84 HP when I got back to the map.

I can verify that the pace does seem to be 1 HP every 30 seconds though, as I’m currently sitting on 86 HP roughly one minute after ending the battle.

How to Use HP Regen Effectively

Basically, my recommendation is that you should only use your First-Aid Med if you’re about to die in combat. Even then, it might be worth saving it for when you have already died – particularly if you’re using gear with the Fortify skill.

There really is no point in using First Aid Meds between battles, and even more so if you don’t plan on heading immediately into another battle. Save it for use as a revive or if you’re close to death and want to maintain Last Stand or Heroics.
