Monster Hunter Now Perfect Dodge – How Do They Work?

Monster Hunter Now Diablos.

Struggling to pull off a Monster Hunter Now perfect dodge? You aren’t the only one! It’s a fiendishly difficult manoeuvre to pull off, but it’s so worth it for the insane advantage you gain in combat for doing so. Fortunately for you, I’ve spent a bunch of time trying to figure out the exact timing to pull off this dodge. That’s why I’ve put together this guide, to help you out.

Monster Hunter Now takes the location-based formula nailed down by Pokémon GO, and chucks it into the Monster Hunter universe. You still wander around the real world, but this time you are fighting monsters instead of collecting them. You loot their bodies for crafting materials so you can forge new weapons and armour. Then, you do it all over again.

You can grab Monster Hunter Now on Google Play. If you’re looking for further help, check out our Monster Hunter Now pre-registration rewards guide, Monster Hunter Now Long Sword build, and Monster Hunter Now soft ban guide.

Monster Hunter Now Perfect Dodge

Now, let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the Monster Hunter Now perfect dodge ability.

How to Dodge in Monster Hunter Now

Want to pull off a dodge in Monster Hunter Now? It’s as simple as swiping. Swipe left to dodge left, right to dodge right, and, well, you get the point. You can also spam swipe to keep dodging in a desired direction.

The only advice we’d give you when pulling off a dodge is to pay close attention to the monster when it turns glowing red. This means it’s about to pull off an attack. Its body language should tell you the direction it will attack from, so make sure to dodge away from it.

If it’s readying for a charge, dodging backwards won’t help you. Dodge left or right to avoid it. When you first attack a monster, it might be worth spending a bit of time learning its combat rotation so you’re well prepared next time.

What’s a Perfect Dodge?

It’s very obvious when you pull off a perfect dodge in Monster Hunter Now. Your character glows yellow, leaves a yellow trail, and pulls off a really fancy dodge roll that moves much further than a regular dodge. You’re also completely invulnerable while this happens, so it’s well worth pulling it off.

How do I Perfect Dodge?

To pull off a perfect dodge, you need to nail down the timing. While you can play it safe and doge well before an attack lands, you won’t get a perfect dodge this way. Instead, you have to wait until the last possible moment before an attack connects to pull it off.

I’ve struggled to pull these off with consistency so far, if I’m honest. You really have to understand enemy timing to nail it. But the most success I’ve had is when I wait until the last possible moment and dodge then. It’s very similar to Final Fantasy 16, if you have played that.

Can I Counter Attack?

Yes! You can pull off a counter attack by attacking during a perfect dodge. This lets you get straight back into a combo the moment after a dodge as well, so it’s well worth doing. Besides, a counter-attack is more powerful than a regular attack.
