Asylum and Ascension Online both successfully funded on Kickstarter

Two games, one of which we’ve talked about in the past, have been successfully funded over on Kickstarter and will be heading to Android soon. Asylum by Agustín Cordes and Ascension Online by Stone Blade Entertainment have both reached their funding goals and Android versions are under development now.

For those of you who missed our previous coverage regarding Ascension Online, this is a deck building strategy game with RPG elements layered onto it, at least regards to the single player campaign portion that is. As the story goes, Ascension takes place in Vigil where the Fallen One has begun terrorizing the lands with his army of evil minions. You are charged with going out onto the lands with your little band of militia and apprentices in order to recruit more fighters and hopefully building a powerful army which you will then use to destroy the Fallen One.

Ascension Online will also have a multiplayer aspect to the game where players will be able to battle it out against each other. Stone Blade Entertainment already holds regular tournaments with Ascension Online where players who come out on top win prizes. When Ascension Online launches, it will only be coming with the single player campaign at first, with multiplayer being added in an update shortly after the game’s release.

On the flip side of things, Asylum is a point-and-click psychological horror adventure game which takes inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft’s works. The entire adventure takes place in a massive decaying mental institute which is a perfect setting for a psychological horror game. The developers are hell bent on making this a rather disturbing and scary game which is just fine with us.

However, to keep the element of surprise and the mystery behind everything fresh for when the game gets released, the developers haven’t really let out too many details about the game. If you look at the funding total and then the stretch goal for an Android version (which is $120,000) is looks like the developer’s didn’t make it to the Android version stretch goal by a few bucks. Actually they did reach that goal through additional Paypal donations so an Android version is heading our way. We are not sure about the OUYA version though.

Thanks to Trevor H. for the tip!
