Another mobile game bites the dust. It’s Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator that has announced its EOS. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have just dropped the new that their RPG is shutting down soon.
It’s only the global version though that’s shutting down. It’s barely been over a year since the game’s global launch in January 2024. So, you can probably imagine that it wasn’t performing well. We’ll dissect which things led to the EOS in detail later.
Before that, let me tell you that the Japanese version is still thriving and doesn’t plan to shut down any time soon. It launched in September 2023 and is gearing up for the 1.5th anniversary in March 2025 which is an irony. Why you may ask? The answer is right below.
When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?
It’s the same month the Japanese version is celebrating its 1.5th anniversary. Yep, quite an irony, right? The exact date is set for March 28th, 2025. While the Japanese players are diving into Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be stuck wrapping up Chapter 21 (Part 1).
The in-game purchase system is already disabled. But if you’ve got Lodestar Gems lying around, you can still use them until the bitter end. Koei Tecmo has also promised new content and events up until the shutdown.
Another irony is that the global version literally just celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th. So yeah, happy anniversary, now pack your bags.
Why Is It Shutting Down?
The devs have issued a notice saying that after assessing that they were unable to continue the pursuits at a satisfactory standard for the players, they’ve decided to shut it down. And that’s true. The game couldn’t make a mark among its players.
Almost a couple of months after its launch, players were complaining about the dreaded gacha system. Although the main characters were fantastic, the gameplay and monetization couldn’t keep up and the power creep was too bad.
