Caverna: The Cave Farmers, the popular board game has been given a digital form. Caverna is the digital adaptation which has just landed on Android, iOS and Steam. It was originally released in 2013 and designed by Uwe Rosenberg, the same person who made Agricola.

On mobile, it’s being published by Digidiced and is up for grabs at $11.99. Digidiced is a German studio who has developed multiple board games into digital versions. Right now, they also have hefty discounts across their games like Terra Mystica, Stockpile, Gaia Project, Chai and Indian Summer.

Juggling a Dozen Decisions At Once in Caverna

Caverna is about running a dwarf family in a cave and figuring out the smartest way to grow their little underground world. You begin with a modest cavern and go in a bunch of different directions.

You might clear out some forest and start planting crops, or maybe fence in a few pastures and raise animals. Or, you can dig into the mountain to find ore and gems, and even forge weapons to send your dwarves on adventures.

Every turn matters in Caverna since it wraps up after a set number of rounds. Also, because it tallies your score based on how well you’ve expanded, developed, and managed everything. On that note, take a look at the game below.

Played the Original?

The best part about the digital version of Caverna is how it handles all the complexity. You can play solo with AI opponents that come with different personalities. Or you can face off with up to six other players.

It supports both online and local multiplayer and also includes asynchronous play with push notifications. And if you prefer to go solo, there are weekly challenges with leaderboards.

The game also has a playback feature that lets you review old matches. And visually, you can stick with the original board game look or switch to a 3D version for a more modern feel. Check the game out on the Google Play Store.
