Chants of Sennaar is now available on mobile! Developed by Rundisc and published by Playdigious on mobile, the game draws inspiration from Heaven’s Vault and Captain Blood. It was first launched in September 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.

Chants of Sennaar has the story of Babel retold through puzzles and culture. The game won Best Indie Game at the 2024 New York Game Awards. It also picked up multiple nominations across big ceremonies such as The Game Awards and the BAFTAs.

Decode, Learn and Connect in Chants of Sennaar

The premise is rooted in the Tower of Babel myth, where language is both the greatest obstacle and the ultimate key. You step into the role of the Traveler, a robed figure who wakes from a sarcophagus at the base of a colossal ziggurat-like tower.

Each level of the spiralling structure is home to a different caste, culture, and language. To ascend, you must decipher the languages, bridge divides and restore connections between estranged people.

You’ll spend time observing, listening, and filling out your notebook with symbols and translations, gradually piecing together meaning. The challenge lies in cracking codes and also in using that knowledge to communicate across cultural barriers and move further up the tower.

The game’s art direction draws heavy influence from Moebius and French-Belgian comics, giving each floor of the tower a distinct style shaped by its architecture, technology, and culture. Complementing the visuals is a soundtrack by Thomas Brunet. Take a look at it here.

A poetic narrative with clever language-based puzzles

With five distinct peoples to encounter and a labyrinthine tower to climb, the journey of the Traveler is quite cerebral. On mobile, the game has been reworked with full cloud save support and the ability to lock the game at 30 or 60 FPS.

Chants of Sennaar is now available on Android. There’s a free trial before you can unlock the full game. To mark its arrival, Playdigious is offering a 10% launch discount until September 2nd. So, grab it from the Google Play Store.
