CS2 Cases and Skin-Betting Explained

Counter-Strike 2 is the latest instalment in one of the most popular multiplayer game series of all time.

Released in 2023—just over a month ago, at the time of writing—it showcases Valve’s latest cutting edge first-person Source 2 game engine.

Critics have praised Counter-Strike 2, and close to a million players on average are stalking around its various iconic maps at any given time.

So how come it’s free?

The answer is cases.

All About CS2 Cases

For the uninitiated, CS2 cases are what fuels CS2’s in-game economy. Awarded for ranking up through the Weekly Care Package scheme, their contents remain a mystery until you open them.

These cases contain skins for your various weapons, and they come in several different levels of rarity, from Common to Immortal. Whenever you open a case, you randomly receive one of the weapons it contains.

To open a case you need to buy a key, which costs $2.50. This can be money well-spent, however, since you can sell the skins you obtain on the open marketplace—sometimes for eye-watering sums.

In fact, some items have become so coveted that it’s not possible to sell them through Steam’s own market, which limits the price of a single listing to $1800.

All About Clash.gg and CS2 Cases

Hence the rise of platforms like Clash.gg, which gives you the opportunity to win skins by opening cases created by other players.

Clash.gg has a number of casino-style gambling modes that let you bet skins, too. Battle mode, for example, sees you opening crates in competition with bots or other players, with the highest value draws winning the pot.

While it’s possible to play on Clash.gg for free by taking advantage of the site’s rain feature, it’s important to understand that you can also lose money if you choose to play for cash.

If that looks like your bag, click here to visit the Clash.gg site.
