Desperatea is a new game on Android with unique, charming challenges. Created by kr0tyara, a Russian game development studio, it’s all about tea, as the name suggests. And the levels of desperation? Pretty high!
Desperatea is unlike any other puzzle you might have brewed before!
The game sends you into a tea party that is anything but ordinary. You take the role of a special tea master, setting tables for unusual guests and serving them cups of glowing green tea. They say it’s matcha, though the suspicious glow suggests something a little more magical.
The game plays like Sokoban puzzles, where you’re moving cups, pouring tea, and finding clever paths. There are 27 unique levels, some of which bring in odd tasks like launching tea trains, tricking a platypus, and riding across tables on a rat’s tray. Oh, one level even asks you to make a brutal sacrifice in the name of tea!
Beyond the main 27 puzzles, there are over 50 levels in total, along with hidden bonus ones. Each new area introduces new mechanics as well. Sometimes you’ll need to conserve tea to avoid running out mid-puzzle, while in others you’ll discover sneaky shortcuts.
Desperatea introduces special items. Red teacups allow you to transfer tea, tall glasses only move vertically, and square cups shift horizontally. Meanwhile, sugar cubes dissolve once they meet tea and trays carried by rats let you move between tables. Later on, you’ll even find candy bowls and other additions.

Want a cup of tea?
Desperatea encourages minimising steps, controlling time, and paying attention to each guest’s odd requirements. It’s a puzzle game with a sense of humour and hints if you get stuck. The game is free to download on the Google Play Store, with no ads and no microtransactions.
