Devil May Cry: Peak Of Combat sits poised to open up to the global public very soon, and if you’re excited for the release, there’s some new content to check out. The official YouTube Channel released a trailer to get people hype for the official launch of open beta tomorrow.
This release is a long time coming. We first covered Devil May Cry: Peak Of Combat’s potential global release all the way back in 2021, but unlike the ill-fated Just Cause Mobile, Devil May Cry: Peak Of Combat has clawed its way out of development hell. We’re aware of the irony.
There’ll Be Hell To Pay
The game is a free-to-play mobile adaptation of the PC and console-based hack-and-slash series that pits you against the forces of darkness and challenges you to look really cool while doing it.
The trailer certainly has a lot that you might expect. Pretty townscapes, floating netherworld ruins. You’ve got all kinds of creepy demon critters all over the place. Nero is showing off his weird spooky arm. More importantly, the combat looks fast, fluid, and exciting.
There are quite a few free-to-play adaptations that end up with games completely unlike the series they draw from. We’re looking at you, Street Fighter: Duel.
The Jury Is Out
So far, what we’ve seen of the gameplay looked pretty DMC-like, though how the free-to-play Faustian deal will impact things it’s hard to say at this stage.
We’ll reserve judgment on how well the gameplay matches up with the DMC experience until we’ve had a chance to get our hands on the game. We’re at least reassured to see something that looks like the kind of experience we’re used to.
