Bandai Namco is taking another swing at bringing Digimon to mobile with Digimon Alysion, a digital version of the Digimon Card Game. It’s coming to Android and iOS as a free-to-play game, though there’s no exact release date yet.

The game was officially announced during Digimon Con 2025, which took place on March 19th. During the event, Bandai Namco also dropped some other updates like Digimon Liberator continuing with a new arc in April 2025.

They released a special video celebrating the Digimon anime’s 25th anniversary and revealed a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond. They’re also cooking up a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger for consoles and PC.

If You Play Digimon Card Game, Alysion Isn’t the Same

Digimon Alysion isn’t a straight port of the physical card game. It’s introducing something called ‘DigiAly’ cards alongside the original cards made specifically for this version. Bandai Namco is also adding some new Digimon and characters.

The character lineup across the website is mostly a generic all-girls cast. That’s a pretty unusual direction for a digital card game. Some players are a little sceptical about the new additions, especially people who were hoping for a faithful adaptation of the physical game.

This isn’t Bandai Namco’s first attempt at a Digimon mobile game. Their track record hasn’t been great so far in that area. They’ve tried twice before and failed, so there’s definitely some hesitation about whether Digimon Alysion, the card game will succeed.

Nonetheless, I am still looking forward to the game. A closed beta test is in the works for the game but details on that are still under wraps. You can find out more about it on their official website or their X account.
