Mobirix has added another game to its roster. The studio is known for its casual puzzle games and mobile spins on old-school arcade titles. Originally titled Duck Town during pre-launch, the new game is now called Duet Ducks: Rhythm Game.

As the name makes it quite evident, it’s a rhythm game. And alongside the rhythm challenges, it tasks you with raising a family of ducks. So, the game serves dual genres: it’s a rhythm game and a virtual pet sim.

Rhythm game with duck family

In Duet Ducks: Rhythm Game, you first clear rhythm stages to earn eggs. Then, you drop them into an incubator, and after a wait, a duckling pops out with a cheerful chirp. The surprise comes with what kind of duck you get, since every hatch brings a different theme or personality. There’s a wide range, too, from ninjas to chefs to astronauts!

The note patterns change along with the music. There are over 120 songs in the library, including upbeat tracks, slower, emotional piano pieces, and more. The controls are simple as you just move the duck to line up with the falling notes.

Duet Ducks: Rhythm Game has an extensive collection and village-building aspect. Each duck you unlock finds a home in your little village. And as the flock grows, the place becomes more lively. Your ducks also interact with each other once they’ve hatched.

Since eggs hatch over time, you can check in for short bursts. Or if you’re more invested, you can sit down and work through a long stretch of rhythm stages while enjoying the soundtrack.

Duet Ducks: Rhythm Game Looks Amazing!

A rhythm title lives or dies by its soundtrack, and this game lives up to it. Another highlight is its visuals. They’re quirky, detailed and just charming (and a bit hilarious, too). I guess the devs have cooked up a great combo of features.

The game is free to play, so you can check it out on the Google Play Store.
