Eclipse Games to bring a Qix remake, called LightFish, to Android in the future

A great modern remake of the old school game Qix has just been released by Eclipse Games for the PC and Mac. The developer, who used to work from some big named studios before going indie when they closed, has mentioned plans to bring it to mobile which includes Android.

If you are unfamiliar with Qix for the old arcade and console days, it is a game where you moved a little shape around a board creating boxes attached to eachother. As you take up space creating those boxes, objects floating around have less room to move and become more dangerous in hitting your incomplete box’s lines. When that happens you lose a life and when you run out of lives, the game is over.

This new modern remake of the game brings some new mechanics into play, a new original soundtrack and an underwater theme that has some pretty awesome aesthetics to please your eyes with. It was a very addictive game back in the day and this new remake looks just as fun. You can see some of the new mechanics it will come with in the preview video above which includes barriers and objects floating around that, when encased in a box you make, have effects on the board such as removing those barriers.

Unfortunately there is no real release date yet for when Light Fish will land on Android, only that it is planned for down the road. Hopefully it will happen sooner than later. If you want to try it out now on your PC before it hits the mobile market, you can snag it on Steam for about $4.50.
