Galaxy Nexus is officially released on Verizon, price wars begin.

We haven’t covered the Galaxy Nexus and the plethora of rumors and released dates surrounding it because we would much rather just tell you that it’s released then get your hopes up every other day. So with that said, the Galaxy Nexus is now available on the Verizon Network and we are already seeing online retailers dropping the prices to attract customers.

The biggest one we have seen so far is from Android Police who just reported on the Galaxy Nexus being only $149.99 on Amazon for new accounts. That’s actually a pretty awesome deal for this pretty awesome phone. It was $199.99 only a short moment ago but Amazon has dropped the price by another $50 to try an attract people to buy it through them, which will probably work.

Galaxy Nexus Specs:

– 3G/4G LTE connectivity
– Android 4.0 OS
– 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
– 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen
– 32 GB memory
– 5-MP camera + Full HD 1080p video record

So why is this device such a big deal? Well aside from the fact it’s pretty bad ass in the hardware department, it is also the first Ice Cream Sandwich device to be released for public purchase. You will be getting Android 4.0 when you receive your device. Aside from that though, it’s a device in the Nexus series which is pretty much the flagship line for Android. It’s always great to own a device sporting the Nexus name. So if you are in the market for a Galaxy Nexus, you might want to take up Amazon on that $149.99 offer but it’s only for new accounts at Verizon.

We don’t usually post about sales but this is a pretty solid deal for a new device. This tends to happen with big releases though, online retailers try to one-up each other.
