Asus unveils tablet Slider and Transformer at CES

Android 3.0 is happening in a big way here at CES this year. ASUS has unveiled two new convertible tablets with a dual-core Tegra 2 slide-out QWERTY keyboard. ASUS says to expect an April-May launch with $400-800 price point depending on model. Specs after the break.

We’re glad to see both of ASUS’s powerful new tablets try innovative new designs instead of the bland slate. The Slider Pad has us most interested with it’s built-in slide and tilt hinge which allows a keyboard to hide behind the screen all the time, ditching the need for an attachment. It’s the highlight of the design and it brings up the cost accordingly. It will run $500-$800 depending on how you configure it. ASUS’s Transformer is a bit more typical and shares laptop form factor with the removable keyboard attached. The large battery in the keyboard reportedly brings 16 hours use on a single charge. It’ll run between $400-500 in the US, depending on RAM and storage configuration.
